The Free Web Template Collection
0402 is based on a very simple fluid layout design.
There are 26 color themes, each with a set of 6 web page
templates.
The templates use a two-color band for the header and a
single-color band for the footer. Both color bands stretch
and shrink as the window is resized. The actual page content
remains centered at 750 pixels wide. So if the window width
is reduced to under 750 pixels, the horizontal scroll bar
appears.

The narrowest window before the horizontal scroll
bar appears.

The easiest way to learn to use the website templates is
to try the Collection 0401 sample set included
in the Mergemill application. Run Mergemill and input the
job definitions from the job_definitions.txt file
inside the Templates_0401 folder. Click through
the corresponding Mergemill job definition and task settings,
and read the description in the Source Text box
of each task.
If you have downloaded Free Web Template Collection
0402, you may change the template path to use any one
in the collection.
Next you may try out generating web pages using Mergemill
and these website templates. Simply edit the job definitions
or task settings you desire to change. For additional web
pages that use a certain template, duplicate the appropriate
job definition and make changes. Once all source contents
are entered or located, and the job definitions are completed,
click the Run Jobs button to generate your web
pages.
Before you test your generated web pages, make sure you
copy the images folder of your template set to
the output folder as well, so that the graphic
elements are all correctly accessed by your web pages.
The Six Web Site Templates
The website templates for each color theme use the same
layout and structure. We will briefly describe each below,
using the first color theme as an example. On the next several
web pages, just one template thumbnail per color theme will
be shown with download links for the set.
ONE
Column; General Purpose Text and Images
This template provides 8 sets of Text + Link + 2-column
Table blocks that you may include or exclude easily. This
allows you to mix blocks according to your content. For
example, you may start with a block of text with 3 paragraphs,
then a link block, a table, another link block, and finally
a text block.
ONE
Column; Picture Index
This layout starts with a text block, then a 5-column picture
table, followed by another text block. The number of rows
in the table depends on the number of data element sets
provided by the source content.
Since the table is 728 pixels wide, the columns have a
width of about 145 pixels. Each cell is set to contain an
image plus a caption under it.
ONE
Column; Big Image (Detail)
This template works together with the picture index page.
Each of such web pages starts with a text block, then an
image, and finally another text block.
Navigation links are provided to let your visitors easily
move from picture to picture without going through the index
page each time.
TWO
Columns; General Purpose Text and Images
This template provides two columns in the body text area.
The left column is narrower and displays text and links
in heading 6, which has been set smaller than paragraph
text. The right column serves the same purpose as the single
column in the one-column layout.
On the left column, up to 5 sets of text + link blocks
can be included. You may also choose to place Google's Skyscraper
Ads at the top or bottom of this column.
TWO
Columns; Picture Index
The left column of this layout is the same as in the other
2-column layouts.
The table in the main column is now 530 pixels wide and
has 4 column of cells. So the columns are about 132 pixels
wide.
TWO
Column; Big Image (Detail)
The left column of this layout is the same as in the other
2-column layouts.
The main column is now 530 pixels wide, which should also
be the maximum width of the image.
