Survey Emails Done Without a Website

Imagine all the fun and useful surveys you may do. The Mergemill Pro software package has an example you may adapt to your survey needs, all done via an email account, without a website. Doing survey in email is the fastest and easiest way to conduct opinion polls or do market research. You use a standard SMTP connection to send out the survey email, and a standard POP3 connection to read the response emails. Or, you may do both with a Hotmail email account.

The email survey example that comes with the Mergemill Pro software package is explained in Chapter 5 of the User Guide. Here is a brief description to give you an idea.

This is a four-job project. The first job shows you how to send personalized emails to a list of recipients. The second job reads the response emails, and its fetch filter extracts the target data from the messages. The job then saves the captured data to a tab-delimited text file. The third job processes the text file from the second job, sorts the responses and keeps only the first set from each respondent. The fourth and final job tallies the responses and outputs the results to a file.
