Upgrade Adds Web Graphics Batch Processing

HONG KONG -- September 1, 2003 -- Cross Culture Limited today
announced the immediate release of Mergemill 2.5, which is a tool
for web publishing, database publishing, web graphics processing
and data formatting. The software merges templates with content
source files to generate the desired output. It enables users
to quickly and easily generate many web pages from a database,
or reformat database data into readable form for publishing. Users
may also use it to process electronic forms.
Version 2.5 adds the ability to batch-process graphics files
in different formats for the web. This new web graphics processing
feature enables users to convert picture files to the common web/wap
formats (GIF, JPEG or WBMP), reduce color depth (such as changing
32-bit pictures with essentially grayscale colors to 8-bit), and
create thumbnail images for index pages.
The Mergemill 'static' approach has great advantages in web publishing.
The cost is low and site response is excellent. Users can generate
and update many web pages using relatively few web templates.
The website can then be easily hosted by any ISP at near-free
rates. Since none of the web pages needs to be generated on-the-fly,
site response will be much better.
The approach is also best for publishing large amount of database
content in HTML on CD-ROM. The production uses standard and basic
web technologies, and users can enjoy easy navigation using a
familiar interface.
System Requirements, Pricing and Availability
Mergemill 2.5 supports any PC running at least Windows 98SE.
On the Mac it requires at least OS 9.2 or OSX 10.2. The new graphics
processing features requires Apple QuickTime. Customers can purchase
Mergemill from the company's website (www.crossculture.com.hk)
for USD 59 with the single user license, or USD 295 with the site
license. Upgrade is free for registered users of earlier versions.
