Cross Culture Releases Mergemill 2
Redesigned Version Focuses on Core Function,
Adds New Tags, and Makes Great Strides in Job Management
HONG KONG -- July 22, 2003 -- Cross Culture Limited today announced
the release of Mergemill 2, Cross Culture's versatile content
merging shareware. It has been redesigned to focus sharply on
its most valuable features, and to be the best tool for web database
publishing, data formatting and forms processing. Starting at
the new low price of USD 59, this unique tool can easily pay for
itself in helping the user with her first task.
Mergemill 2 improves tremendously in its core function. Many
new tags and job management features are added to make the user's
work easy. The user may download and freely try out the software
for 15 days or 30 runs.
"We are excited about this release," said Vitus Chak,
the Managing Director of Cross Culture Ltd. "We want to democratize
database publishing on the web. We started off with the belief
that most people know something better than many others, and such
knowledge is worth sharing and may brings in unexpected income
for the Mergemill user."
Mergemill works by merging templates with content files to generate
the desired output. Its power and versatility come from the control
tags that let the user direct the selection, insertion and looping
of contents in producing the output files. It enables the user
to quickly and easily generate many web pages from a database,
or reformat database data into readable form for publishing. Users
may also use it to consolidate similar reports for analysis, or
process electronic forms.
The Mergemill way has great advantages in web database publishing.
The cost is low and site response is excellent. The user can generate
and update many web pages using relatively few web format pages
or templates. The website can then be easily hosted by any ISP
at near-free rates. Since none of the web pages needs to be generated
on-the-fly, site response will be much better. Instead of several
servers to serve database-driven web pages dynamically, the Mergemill
generated site requires only a basic web server or site-hosting
service. Less servers means lower chance of the website being
unavailable.
Visitors will more enjoy surfing an information site if, instead
of relying on a search box, they can easily click-surf
to the key information. Specific search requests at a dynamically
generated site often means complicated search pages that turn
visitors away. With Mergemill, the user may identify the most
requested searches and build easy click-paths for visitors, which
free them from having to think how to get to the information they
want.
Sparked by Mergemill's capabilities and advantages, Cross Culture
is using it to create a huge commercial web and wap site. In a
recent trial run, 314 Mergemill jobs were set up with the same
number of templates to generate about 33,600 pages. Mergemill's
excellent job management features frees the user's imagination
to create big websites.
